The march in Kliptown against foreign migrants turned pear shaped in Kliptown, Soweto, on Tuesday.
Protesters torched shacks belonging to foreigners.
Earlier on Tuesday, police said at least five people were arrested for allegedly looting shops owned by foreigners.
The Johannesburg Metro Police (JMPD) said this week, there are three marches around Kliptown, including Moroka and Lenasia.
