Rand Water’s move to open additional inlet valves into Hartebeesthoek Reservoir, has increased levels to at least 40%, the City of Tshwane said in an update on Saturday morning.
This follows a power outage at Rand Water’s Palmiet Booster Pump Station on Wednesday, which left some areas without water in Soshanguve, Atteridgeville, Lotus Gardens, Kalafong Heights, Saulsville, Pretoria West, Olivenhoutbosch & most parts of Pretoria East and parts of Bronkhorstpruit.
The City said Atteridgeville has started receiving some water, while the Olievenhoutbosch/ Thatchfield system, is yet to stabilize.
The Reeds and Lotus reservoirs are still empty.
Henriette Frohlich, ActionSA Tshwane Cllr, took to social media on Friday, regarding the Reeds reservoir.
In her video, Frohlich said “we are still chasing the water, and we found out that the Reeds Reservoir is supplied by Rooihuiskraal North and South Reservoirs, which are supplied by Rand Water’s Brakfontein reservoir.
So I have come out now to Brakfontein reservoir, in Laudium and was shocked to find that as of today, Rand Water has started cleaning their dam. That would explain why no water is currently being pumped.”
