The City of Tshwane has urged residents and businesses to use less water.
This action is expected to save water in the City’s reservoirs.
In a statement, the Municipality said Rand Water pumps 18% more water to Tshwane, amounting to about 80 million liters per day.
“Despite this over the limit water intake, the City is experiencing challenges with some of its reservoirs, due to the high level of consumption by customers in Tshwane.”
Level 1 water restrictions are active, but the City said, this might increase to level 2, if consumer behaviour doesn’t change.
Level 1 water restrictions:
#Do not water or irrigate gardens with a hosepipe or sprinkler system between 06:00 and 18:00.
#Do not use a hosepipe to clean driveways or patios.
#Do not wash vehicles with a hosepipe.
#Do not fill or top up swimming pools or water features.
