The South African Weather Service (SAWS) warned against severe thunderstorms for most of South Africa, on Saturday.

Areas recently affected by floods (extreme eastern parts of Mpumalanga and Limpopo), will have severe thunderstorms at an Orange Level 5, accompanied by heavy downpours and strong damaging winds. 

Similar yet lesser conditions (Yellow level 4 ) are expected over KwaZulu-Natal as well as the central parts of Mpumalanga and Limpopo.

Rainfall at level 2, is also expected over Gauteng, eastern parts of North West, extreme eastern parts of the Free State, south-western parts of Limpopo and the western Highveld of Mpumalanga.

Damaging winds and waves (at Level 4) are forecast between Port Edward and Port St. Lucia.

SAWS said high fire danger conditions persist over the ZF Mgcawu and Pixley Ka Seme district Municipalities.
