About 142 suspects were arrested, between the 16 and 22 June 2025, for illegal mining and related criminal activities.
The police said Vala Umgodi operations, have also confiscated significant amounts of gold-bearing material and equipment during busts.
The police (SAPS) also said operations are integrated, made up of SAPS units and supporting stakeholders, to dismantle illegal mining networks and safeguard critical economic infrastructure.
