Firefighters are responding to a fire that broke out in Dassieshoek, Robertson, in the Cape Winelands, on Sunday afternoon.

The Cape Winelands District Municipality (CWDM) said the fire started just above the cemetery, outside Robertson.

According to the Municipality, “the fire is being fuelled by a very strong north-westerly wind and is currently burning in an area made up of mostly small shrubs and bushes. There is concern that the fire may be driven into a pine plantation or into the adjacent farmland.”

Firefighters from the CWDM’s Robertson, Worcester, and Ceres stations are on site, assisted by Langeberg Municipality and ground crews from NCC and Lewis Bush Clearing.
