One borehole in Ward 14, part of the uThukela District, will be supplying water to the Hobsland community (Ezigebengwini).

About 114 households are set to receive water, and 10 jobs will be created during the construction phase.

The UThukela District Municipality held a sod-turning and handover ceremony, on Wednesday.

A pump house will be constructed as part of the project, a 12-hour pump test, as well as the installation of 50mm HDPE reticulation pipelines with associated valves. 

In addition, 10 community standpipes, will also be part of the package, as well as fencing of the borehole site, and the installation of three (3) 10,000-litre storage tanks and stands.

The project is funded by the Water Services Infrastructure Grant (WSIG) and is expected to be completed in  approximately six (6) months, by contractor -Sydwat (Pty) Ltd.
