The Road between David Webster and Dulcie September, is currently closed to traffic.
Protesters took the streets of Tshepisong, West of Johannesburg, following the removal of illegally connected electricity, as part of efforts to reduce consumption.
City Power said a similar operation was cancelled last week, after staff of the entity were intimidated and threatened.
Although law enforcement agencies are on site, the metro police (JMPD) advised motorists to stay clear of the area.
“Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and exercise extreme caution if travelling in the vicinity” said JMPD in a statement.
