The R71 near Magoebaskloof, in Limpopo, remains closed, following an explosion, earlier on Wednesday.
A truck carrying gas cylinders crashed and caught fire, triggering multiple explosions and igniting plantations.
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety had advised motorists to use George’s Valley Road (R528).
