The Vaal Central Water (VCW) addressed social media concerns from residents who took to social media, this week, about sand in taps and geysers.
VCW is responsible for the provision of water in Central, Northern, and South-Eastern Free State as well as parts of the Northern Cape.
In a statement, VCW, said it is important to note it supplies bulk water to Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality, with the exception of the Northern Suburbs.
These suburbs are served directly by the Municipality’s Maselspoort Water Treatment Works.
“Foreign particles in water often indicate distribution system issues” the utility said in a statement.
Diagnosis of the problem continues, and the University of the Free State’s Institute of Groundwater Studies, is conducting independent water tests.
