Mopping up is well underway, following a fire at the De Gama Park and Glen Fire, in Cape Town, on Saturday evening.
Jermaine Carelse, Spokesperson of the City’s Fire and Rescue Services, said the fire was extinguished at around 05:00am on Sunday morning.
“The only area that has a few hot spots is in the vicinity of Gleneagle Road. The other areas are being monitored. We wish to express our heartfelt appreciation to the Navy, NCC and VWS for their unwavering support.”
The national animal welfare (SPCA) in partnership with TEARS Animal Rescue, said both organisations are ready to rescue animals.
“Our teams are on full standby, ready to assist with any animal evacuations, injuries, or emergencies that may arise” said the SPCA.
They also requested support in the form of pet food, Silbecor wound ointment, bandages, blankets, towels, newspapers and water.
