A recent report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) predicts an increase in socio-economic risks, as a result of a warming planet.

Some of the repercussions as a result of heat- related morbidity, and limited adaptation, include low investment in health.

The report has also listed food insecurity, as another risk. The point it makes is adaptation and socio-economic pathways, affect levels of climate related risks.

Where there is low adaptability to climate change, the pathway has a decline in population numbers.

Low risk countries, have relatively lower populations, high income, food is produced in low GHG emission systems. There is ideally an effective land use regulation.
Countries at high risk have the opposite.

In addition to food production, water resources are expected to be scarce.
Ecosystem structures and a shift in range species, can be counted among some of the changes predicted.
